Louise Mary Thompson, age 84, died April 2, 2012 at Home Place in Dorchester, WI. She was a former resident of Plover. A private graveside service will take place later in the spring at the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at King, WI.
Louise was born December 27, 1927 in Wausau, to the late Russell and Dorothy (Cooper) Gibbs. She attended high school in Wausau and Stevens Point, graduating from Wausau high school in 1946. She married William R. Thompson on May 17, 1947 in Wausau. They moved to Stevens Point in 1958.
Louise enjoyed reading, gardening, camping and sewing. She especially enjoyed creative activities and was a long time member of the Town and Country Art League, through which she exhibited and sold many of her paintings. She was an excellent seamstress and doll maker. She and her husband spent many years attending craft fairs selling her dolls and quilts.
Survivors include a son, William R. (Sandra) Thompson Jr. of Waterford, WI; a daughter, Laura (Bruce) Phillips of Lawrence, KS; granddaughter, Mandy (Tim) Mayek of Stevens Point. Additional grandchildren include Jennifer (Chris) Cammers, Waterford, WI, Elizabeth (Rob) Mueller, Waterford, WI, Katherine (Michael) Burrow, Overland Park, KS, Andrew (Mary) Phillips, Lawrence, KS, and six great grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, Thomas (Jayne) Gibbs, Marshfield, WI.
Louise is preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Catherine.
