Obituary:Warren M. Waite, age 84, of 610 St. Paul St., Stevens Point, died peacefully at home Monday, February 20, 2012 while under the care of his family and Ministry Home Care Hospice.
Warren was born December 27, 1927 to the late Marvin and Linda (Olson) Waite in Appleton. His family moved to Wausau where he attended the local grade schools and graduated from Wausau Senior High School.
Warren was inducted into the U.S. Army on July 23, 1946. He served during WWII until being Honorably discharged December 26, 1947. He reenlisted into the U.S. Air Force on September 19, 1950 and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on July 19, 1954. Warren was also stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi, Japan and Germany. During his time in service, Warren received the National Defense Service Medal, WW II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal for Germany and Japan.
Warren worked for Bell Telephone for over 30 years. He started as a lineman; was transferred to the office; and retired as a switchboard technician.
He married Mary Ann Wasemiller on May 12, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau, WI.
Warren will be remembered for his love of life and joking nature. Warren treasured his wife, children, and grandchildren; family was his pride and joy. He was a builder by nature and enjoyed countless building projects; which included his cabin. Warren enjoyed nature and spending time at his cabin. In his spare time he liked, hunting, planting trees, and building bird houses. Warren enjoyed collecting penny’s and old telephones. He was a faithful member of St Paul Lutheran Church. Warren was also a member of the American Legion Post 6 & the Telephone Pioneers.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Waite of Stevens Point; children, Brad (Cathy) Waite & Becky Waite, both of Stevens Point; grandchildren, Heather (Tyler) Gawlik of Stevens Point, Brittany (Bill Doebler) Waite of Stevens Point, & Joshua Waite of Stevens Point; great grandchild, Jadelyn Gawlik; and many nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Sherman & Wesley Sr.; sisters, Iona, Wyletta, & Adele; and grandson, Christopher.
A Celebration of His Life will take place 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stevens Point with Rev Thomas Petersen officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Boston Funeral Home, and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau, WI.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Jean Montgomery, Dr. George, & the 2nd floor staff for the wonderful care given; in addition to a special caregiver, Sandy Skusevich and hospice staff, Stormy, Acacia, Peggy, & Amber.
Warren will be greatly missed and will be in our hearts forever.
