Obituary:
Frank L. Marten, age 87, of 3200 Water St. #36, died at home February 24, 2010 while under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice. Private Family services were held. Frank was born May 8, 1922 near Windsor, Wisconsin, to the late Frank W. and Augusta (Luedtke) Marten. The family Moved to Eau Claire, where he attended high school. Frank enlisted in the National Guard, Co. B 128th Infantry, 32nd Division in 1938. His enlistment expired in 1941 and he returned to Eau Claire. In early 1942 he married Carrol Larson of Altoona. She precedes him in death. Frank was recalled to active duty in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army Military Police at various locations near the west coast. He was transferred to Newport News, VA and was Honorably Discharged in 1945. Returning to Eau Claire, he worked for the local fire department for 5 years, and then moved to Seattle, Washington, and worked for Bowing Aircraft. He returned to Eau Claire in 1955, and his wife died in early 1956 at age 38. Frank married Mary Musolf of Altoona, WI in 1957. They moved to Beloit, WI, where he worked for Fairbanks – Morris Mfg a short time. He had become a journeyman carpenter in 1955 which later led him to construction work, and was carpenter foreman on all the bridges on I 94 from Belvedere, IL to the state line at Beloit. He later worked as carpenter foreman and job superintendent in the greater Milwaukee area until retirement in 1983. He and his wife relocated near Iola, WI, where they gardened and enjoyed rural life. Frank enjoyed fishing, hunting, horse shoes and pool. During his Milwaukee years he was very active with the Jolly Sportsman Club, where he conducted hunter safety courses for seven years. Survivors include his wife Mary; children, Darlene Allen of Stevens Point, Dennis (Anita) of Las Vegas, Pamela (David) Pearce of Henderson, NV, Dawn (Daniel) Reynosa of Milwaukee. He is further survived by 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
