Name: Elaine Marschke Date: Jan 10, 1918  -  Mar 07, 2010 Obituary: Elaine R. Marschke, age 92, of North Ridge Assisted Living, died there March 7, 2010 while under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice. A Funeral Mass will take place 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010 at St. Stephen Catholic Church with Rev. John Potaczek officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will take place at Lake View Cemetery in Rib Lake, WI at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Elaine was born January 10, 1918 to the late Raymond & Regina (Malek) Pendergast in Ashland, WI. Her family moved to Rib Lake, where she grew up and attended the local schools. She married Robert Marschke on May 29, 1939 and they settled in Stevens Point. He preceded her in death on September 28, 1947. Elaine operated a rooming house until accepting a job at Worzella Publishing. She worked as a proof reader until retirement. Elaine will be remembered for her strong-willed nature and a generous persona. She was a good listener and donated help to those in need. Elaine enjoyed children and babysitting; in addition to pet sitting. She loved to camp and enjoyed her home away from home. In her spare time, Elaine liked cooking, baking, gardening, knitting, and sewing. Survivors include daughter, Barbara Benson of Plover; son, Allan (Diane) Marschke of Stevens Point; siblings, Archie Pendergast of Plover, Francis Pendergast of Whiting, Robert “Doc” (Virginia) Pendergast of Wausau, Rita (Raymond) Stepaniak of Stevens Point, Grace Brown of TX, and Patrick Pendergast of Menominee, MI; grandchildren, Colleen (Jeff) Dalton, of Hatley, Maureen (Bart Mether) Skippy of Plover, Myra (Trent) Westphal of Plover, Renee (Steve) Johnson of Custer, & Corey (Dawn) Marschke of Stevens Point; and 5 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 5 brothers. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
